Eventer, Hannah Francis, a Norton Hill School student who is undergoing treatment for cancer, has had a £10,000 boost to her campaign to Kick Cancer’s Butt, thanks to her school friend and Game of Thrones actress, Maisie Williams.

Maisie took part in and won Absolute Radio’s ‘Who’s Calling Christian?’ feature, where the station looks for celebrities to call DJ, Christian, for the chance to win £10,000 for the charity of their choice and £10,000 for a listener that told them to call. After announcing the winners, Maisie instructed that the money be sent to Hannah.

Despite her personal battle with cancer, horse rider, Hannah, from Hemington, who has had to put her eventing career on hold after being diagnosed with bone cancer, has decided to fight back by using social media to #KickCancersButt with the help of a plush pony named Willberry the Wonder Pony.

Prior to her diagnosis, Hannah had been an active member of the Norton Hill Equestrian Team and had been competing with her two horses across the region, earning her a place in the British Equestrian Association rankings. She has been documenting her time in hospital, plus raising money for cancer charities with her blog, Instagram and Twitter accounts. Her online campaign, headed by Willberry the Wonder Pony, has gained her over 11,000 followers on Twitter and Instagram. Various companies have come forward to help Hannah with her fundraising, with wristbands and chocolates featuring Willberry on sale on her website, www.willberrythewonderpony.com the money raised will be going to the cancer charities of Hannah’s choice. The website also features Hannah’s blog, where she has been keeping friends and family up to date with details of her hospital visits. Thanks to Maisie and the listeners of Absolute Radio, the cause is now £10,000 better off.
