Pupils at Peasedown St John Primary School were pleased to take delivery of two smart new recycling bins from Peasedown Environment Group, just before the Christmas break.

Rev. Ian Souter explained how collecting used pens and empty crisp packets in the school was just one of many measures that the Group are taking towards achieving a zero-plastic status for Peasedown.

Once full, the bins are emptied, sent to Westfield Terracycle, and their contents recycled into a range of items, such as park benches and children’s play equipment. Every item will reduce landfill and help care for the environment.

Headteacher, Damian Knollys, commented: “Our children are passionate about the environment, so it is great to have the opportunity to do something practical to support such a good cause. We’re very grateful to the Peasedown Environment Group for involving us in their work.”
