Frederick Forsyth joins Dom Chambers for a special Remembrance Sunday programme on local radio station, Somer Valley FM.

The show will be aired from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Sunday, 13th November and will include going live to the Midsomer Norton War Memorial for the two minute silence at 11 a.m.

The multi-million selling author, famous for thrillers such as the Day of the Jackal and The Fourth Protocol has written a special poem, Fallen Soldier, as a lament to those who have died in service.

The author says that he instinctively felt this should be set to music and sung rather than read. “I was in my local church one Sunday and I heard this amazing soprano voice. It turns out that Royal Opera House soprano, Melissa, mentors our choir, and it was her voice I was hearing. This led to the classical producer, Gareth Ellis Williams, composing and arranging the music.

“I’m so delighted with the result, Gareth did an incredible job creating the music and Melissa was the perfect person to add the essential emotion and haunting beauty that her vocals give to the track.”

Mr Forsyth, who served as an RAF fighter pilot, gives a special introduction to the song in the lead up to the annual two minutes’ silence in tribute to those who have

sacrificed so much through war and conflict.

Somer Valley FM’s annual Remembrance Sunday Special is produced and

presented by Dom Chambers who had grandfathers serving in Gallipoli, the Western Front, Dunkirk and D-Day.
