MORE than 100 local residents, Heidelberg Materials employees, and their families took part in the second annual Whatley Quarry Loop Challenge, a community walk held to support local projects in Whatley and Chantry.

Despite soaring temperatures, walkers of all ages — including Heidelberg Materials employees and their families took part in the second annual Whatley Quarry Loop Challenge, with some setting off as early as 5am to beat the heat.

Organised by the community group Friends of Whatley and Chantry to raise funds for local projects, the 4.5-mile route featured shaded rest stops with picnic tables and refreshments provided by the quarry team.

Heidelberg Materials donated £1,000 to be split evenly between Whatley and Chantry and will support local projects in the villages.
