'The Fairy Garden', in Paulton, has brought much joy and magic to lots of local school children who pass it on their daily walk to and from school.
The Fairies are back children, did you know? They have a new tree house in the same quiet spot, slightly hidden among fern like greenery and ivy in the ‘Fairy Garden’, which can be found on the corner of Church Road/Foundry Walk, Paulton opposite Holy Trinity Church, but a word of warning; they are shy and hide, so try to be quiet as not to disturb them.
The fairies were first mentioned back in July 2015, the creation by Ida Anscomb, my late mother who thought of the 'enchanting idea' born from a derelict patch of land which was once part of the Purnell Printworks where Enid Blyton’s books were printed.
It became such a novelty, it was even entered into the RHS ‘In Bloom Competition’ for which Paulton achieved a Gold award!
Much to the children’s horror, the fairies suddenly and without warning flew away! The once pretty garden sadly became neglected following severe damage to the wall. However, as if by magic, it appears they have now returned now that the wall has been repaired following being hit by a car.
Many thanks to the Fairy House builder, Clive Pearce, who had help from the 'wee folk’.
Following their absence many, enquiries were asked by children and adults if the 'Fairy Garden' would ever reappear, it was so missed.
So, hurray magical things have happened, they are back! Over the months to come small, dainty pretty flowers will emerge as the fairies sprinkle their magic fairy dust on their garden, just wait and see!
