The Rotary Talent Show returns for a third year and promises to be the biggest show yet, with more acts showcasing young performing talent.
The Midsomer Norton and Radstock Rotary Club is organising the show in partnership with Writhlington’s Dragonfly Theatre and Somer Valley FM. Aimed at young people aged eleven to eighteen, this year’s event is offering four categories of performance for singers, bands, dancers and entertainers.
Auditions are being held in Midsomer Norton Town Hall on Sunday, 12th March. To apply, go to: ignyteltd.formstack.com/forms/rotary_talent_show or email:
Last year’s winner was opera singer, Victoria Wiltshire, who performed as Katy Blu, from Hayesfield School, who won £200 and professional recording time. Victoria said: “This was such a great opportunity, as performing in front of an audience is just about the only place I feel comfortable. Everyone involved was really lovely, and it was a fun night. Afterwards, I was inspired to do more competitions and it gave me the confidence to apply for ITV’s The Voice Kids.”
The Show itself will take place on Friday, 17th March at the Dragonfly Theatre.
Show host, Dom Chambers, said: “Last year we had eighteen acts apply and I was amazed at the level of performing talent we have in the young people of this area. I am sure we will have even more interest this year,
particularly as we are introducing categories, which will mean a singer is not judged against a theatrical performance, for instance. If you’re thinking about applying,
definitely have a go, as you never know where it could lead.”
All funds raised will go to local charities.
