Despite being honoured at the tenth Chairman's Sports Award, there is no time for resting for fourteen-year-old athlete, Corey Walkes, who is continuing training after signing up to compete in Russia.
Writhlington School student, Corey, who trains five times a week at Quayside Trampoline and Gymnastics Club, based in Bridgwater, with International Performance Coach, Sue Bramble, is in his third year of selection as a member of the Great Britain Junior Trampoline Gymnastics Squad. Competing at the first 2015 Trampoline and Tumbling Spring Series Event, in Coventry recently, Corey has been announced as one of just three juniors to compete for Great Britain at the 'Peter the Great Cup', in St Petersburg, Russia, this June. This junior event runs alongside the St Petersburg World Cup, where the top senior trampolinists from across the world will be competing for places at next year's Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games.
His parents said: "We are truly overwhelmed by the support for Corey from our local community and know that he will continue to strive to be the best he can be."
Anyone who wishes to find out more about Corey or who may be in a position to support him financially with his training and competition costs, please contact Pippa Walkes: [email protected]">[email protected]
