The 1st Midsomer Norton Scout group are literally raising the roof of their hall on Radstock Road. The hall was built many years ago and whilst the roof is structurally sound, it is not watertight.
After careful investigation, the group have determined that the cost effective solution is to put a new roof over the top of the existing one. This will bring the building up to present building standards of insulation.
In August, The Journal reported on the efforts of two brothers; Jacob and Issac from the 1st Midsomer Norton Cub and Beavers group. They were raising sponsorship funds by wombling (litter picking) around Midsomer Norton towards the new roof. Their actions reported in the paper inspired the Radstock and Midsomer Norton Lions Club to make a donation towards the cause. Lion President Rob Jamieson and Lion Lyn Haile were delighted to meet the enterprising brothers and present them with a giant cheque for £250.
We wish the Scout groups every success in raising the roof and enjoying a watertight space to meet when the work is completed.
