A Midsomer Norton couple, whose friends predicted over sixty years ago that their marriage would not survive two years, have recently celebrated their Diamond Wedding.

Shirley and Bob Jordan, of Withies Park, enjoyed a celebration meal with their daughters, Angela and Helen, and their families at Cameley Lodge, and spent their anniversary date with friends during their annual get-together at Okehampton’s Sporting Manor.

Sergeant Bob spent thirty years in the Somerset Police Constabulary and he and Shirley made home in fifteen different houses before retiring and founding Trophies of Radstock.

Shirley has spent seventeen years volunteering in Keynsham’s British Heart Foundation charity shop, as well as singing with Westfield Ladies’ Choir and performing with Coleford Theatre Group. Bob has enjoyed cricketing and golfing and, as a member of Fosseway Bowls Club, has been a valued member of the Somerset County Bowls Association. Their family is the most important part of their lives, and they attribute the success of their long marriage to “a healthy exchange of opinions.”
