Residents at Bloomfield Care Home in Paulton, run by Barchester Healthcare, are celebrating National Carers’ Week, which takes place from June 7th–13th. Residents wanted to thank all the wonderful staff at the home, whose hard work and dedication make a real difference to the lives of those living in their care.

Carers’ Week is an annual event to raise awareness of caring, highlighting the challenges carers face, and recognising the contribution they make to residents, families and communities throughout the UK. The theme for Carers’ Week this year is ‘Making caring visible and valued’ – to shine a light on all those who work tirelessly behind the scenes to care for vulnerable people in our communities.

Staff were treated to chocolates and cards, an afternoon tea in the garden, and Head Chef Pawel Kwiatowski put together a wonderful spread of party food for everyone to enjoy. Staff, residents and visitors sang and danced while they listened to live music from Danny Guest. Family and friends arrived throughout the afternoon to join in the fun, keeping to the thirty guest rule.

Residents also gave thanks by giving handmade cards and handwritten letters to carers with a small gift of thanks for all that they do.

Gail Stone, General Manager said: “It is so wonderful to be able to celebrate Carers’ Week and thank our fantastic carers with a summer party in our garden this year, and to be able to welcome the community, relatives and friends back again, whilst adhering to Government guidance, of course.

“It really does feel like life is getting back to normal now that we can have events and entertainment again. Everyone has had such a fantastic day, we’re all so happy to be able to see each other face to face.”

Christine, a resident at Bloomfield commented: “We’ve all had such a lovely time today, it really is a joy to be able to see our loved ones again and to be able to thank our wonderful carers – I have missed having events like this!”
