MORE than 150 visitors attended the annual Summer Fayre at Somer Valley House care home, helping to raise £900 for the local charity Time is Precious.
The event brought together residents, families, staff, and members of the community for a fun-filled event featuring stalls from local businesses, a lively petting zoo, live entertainment, and refreshments.
For some residents, the day offered completely new experiences, 89-year-old resident Blanche Farley said: “I reached 89-years-old without ever touching a snake so imagine my surprise at getting the chance to get up close and personal with one in my care home! I especially loved seeing such a lovely crowd of people of all ages who were all in good spirits and enjoying such a wonderful afternoon.”
Somer Valley House, operated by Oyster Care Homes, offers 24-hour residential, dementia and respite care for up to 66 people. With ensuite bedrooms, beautiful social spaces, and landscaped gardens, Somer Valley House offers an inclusive fee to give peace of mind to its residents and families.
Emma Curtain, the front of house manager at Somer Valley House, said, “We are so grateful to everyone who attended and supported this year’s Summer Fayre.
“The turnout was fantastic, and it was great to see residents enjoying the activities alongside their families and members of the community. Raising £900 for Time is Precious is an achievement we are very proud of.”
To find out more about Somer Valley House’s community events, charitable activities, and opportunities to support local causes, residents, families, and members of the public are invited to attend the home’s weekly Tea on Tuesday.
