On Saturday, 6th July, St John’s Church, Chilcompton, held a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party sharing God’s goodness and love with the community.
The Messy Church activities were based around the Alice in Wonderland theme and there was a white rabbit trail around the grounds. You could also make a crazy hat for the parade and play croquet on the lawn with flamingo mallets.
The event was opened by our very own Mad Hatter followed by the upbeat Carnival from St Vigor and St John’s Church School Samba Band, which got everyone in the party mood. The Year One pupils from the school entertained us with their expertly executed country dancing. There was also singing from the ladies of ‘Sing Your Heart Out’. The entertainment was enjoyed by many.
Guests at the party were invited to enter the rabbit hole into the land of Awe and Wonder and experience the beauty of God’s creation.
Traditional cream teas, cake and ice cream were served.
This was a free, fun event with the only profit being made from the Annual Duck Race. Proceeds from this are to be divided between St Vigor and St John Church School and Chilcompton Playgroup.
