Tesco stores in Paulton, Glastonbury, Shepton Mallet and Wells are teaming up to raise money for Daryl Allinson, from Frome, who needs ongoing treatment for leukaemia.
On 29th and 30th July, the four stores will be completing a trolley push challenge from store to store to help raise money for any further treatment that thirteen-year-old Daryl may need.
Tesco is passionate about being part of the local community, each store now has a Community Champion to help support with ongoing projects and events, big or small. The Community Champions, Kaylee Haskins, from the Wells store, Beckie Eschle, from the Paulton store, Hannah Gearing and Tracey De Pont, from the Glastonbury store and Deb Towner, from the Shepton Mallet store, are teaming up alongside their work colleagues to make the trolley push a successful fundraising event.
The event will take place over two days, starting at Paulton’s store on Friday, 29th July, pushing on to Shepton Mallet, where their staff will take over and push on to the Glastonbury store. They will then start again on Saturday, 30th July in Glastonbury for the next leg of the journey to Wells, staff there will then push the home straight back to Paulton for celebrations.
All four stores will have ongoing fundraising in store during the trolley push challenge, as well as collection on route.
Daryl’s ‘Rite 2 Life’ is supported by Time is Precious and has moved and motivated the Community Champions, which, when shared with fellow Tesco colleagues, has gained their support as well.
A representative from Tesco said: “The stores knew they could use their scale for good to help fundraise for this great cause. As time is against us, a trolley push from store to store was a good way to make a positive impact, as well as uniting all the stores and hopefully bring our communities together.
“All the Community Champions are asking is for support from our valued customers and those within our local community to get behind this fantastic and heart felt fundraising event.”
