Shops have had to put up with a lot this year, but recently the owners of Central Garage Petrol Station in Paulton had to deal with the unthinkable – their freezer stopped working.
A freezer breaking down can be a nightmare at the best of times, but Central Garage dealt with it in a rather different way. Soon after the incident occurred, Janarththanan and Jeyarajani, who run the station in Paulton, got in touch with their local Councillor to see if the contents could be given to families in need before it all defrosted.
Grant Johnson, (B&NES Councillor for Paulton, Labour), said: “Most of us would be going through a range of emotions when something like this happens. I know I would start with rage, followed by a strange desire to try and consume as much of the food as possible!
What we got from Janarththanan and Jeyarajani is quite the
opposite though. Without hesitation or a second thought, they contacted me to ensure that the food didn’t go to waste. Through their generosity, vulnerable residents in our community were able to come and take what they needed – free of charge.”
