To say a big thank you to the SWALLOW cafe for their delicious meals for their vulnerable families, the children at Trinity Church School, Radstock, held a ‘mufty’ day last Friday, 13th May.
Mrs Natalie Jones, the Deputy Head at
Trinity contacted the SWALLOW cafe when she heard that they were helping local schools with freshly cooked meals. Many of the families at Trinity have suffered hardship over the past sixteen months and so were delighted when the SWALLOW cafe offered to help out.
Each week, Tara and her team from the cafe cooked and delivered up to twenty meals that were then given to the families in need. This collaboration coincided with the school starting their own foodbank, so the school were able to offer both cupboard staples, fresh food and fresh meals.
Over the past two months, the school and cafe have given over 100 meals and weekly packages of food to ensure all children in the school community have access to food.
To say thank you to Tara and her team, Trinity held a ‘mufty’ day where the children wore their own clothes and made a donation to the SWALLOW charity. The school raised £145 to say thank you for all they have done to help the Trinity community over the past two months; the local Church also gave a donation.
One of the children who have benefited from the use of the foodbank and the cooked meals said: “I came to school today and made a donation because the school and the cafe have helped me and my family though a tough time.”
A great number of families have expressed their thanks to the cafe and school for all they have done to help and support them over the past year.
