A resident who has spent the past fifteen years cleaning up the community in Peasedown St John has been publicly thanked for her efforts.

Jennifer Calignano, often seen around the village with her push bike and litter picker, received a surprise visit from Directors of the Peasedown Community Trust last week.

Chairman Gavin Heathcote and Trustee, Cllr Karen Walker awarded Jennifer with a bouquet of flowers and a new litter picker in a socially distanced presentation outside of her home.

Gavin said: “Jennifer is one of our community angels. We often see her out and about collecting litter in her own time. She cares passionately about our village and is much loved by all. This public presentation is just a small way of us saying thank you.”

Local resident, Dawn Stacey, wrote to the Trust asking if Jennifer could be thanked in a public way, in light of her fifteen years of community activism.

Cllr Karen Walker added: “When I first became a Councillor ten years ago, Jennifer was one of the first residents to write to me with her concerns about litter. She dedicates so much of her time to cleaning up our village.

“Thank you Jennifer!”
