Scouts from Clutton, Radstock, and Peasedown St John spent a weekend sailing in The Solent between the Isle of Wight and Southampton where they moored in Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight on the Saturday night.

The vessel shown was a 60-foot clipper yacht which had previously sailed round the world. A 43-foot yacht was also used.

Fortunately, the sea was calm with only light winds as for some it was their first experience of yacht sailing; others having had sailed on the Discovery Sailing Project before.

The Sunday was St. George’s day, so the Scouts renewed their Scout Promise on the fore deck. Renewing the Scout promise is a tradition for all members of the Scout movement, who remember their patron Saint George on 23rd April.
