Westfield runner, John Reynolds, has just completed a solo fifty mile run in his fastest time yet; 11.5 hours, covering Ebbor and Cheddar Gorge and Crook Peak, where you can see Wales from the Bristol channel.

Westfield TT, the free local running club that John established, were ready and waiting for him as he joined them for the Weston-super-Mare 10k,with some brand new runners braving freezing cold wind and rain. John said of his latest challenge: “It was an incredible run, but tough and demanding conditions underfoot, with temperatures dropping to -3°c, but that is part of the challenge I enjoy!

“I felt so proud to run with everyone at the Christmas cracker race in Weston – Westfield TT’s team spread a lot of happiness by encouraging everyone during the run – carol singing at every opportunity when participants felt cold and soaked to the skin; having banter with the marshalls who stood in the cold and wet, doing an amazing job, and getting the last person over the line in true Westfield TT style, which was noticed and commented on by so many.”

Any readers who would like to join the group in the New Year can check out the Westfield TT Facebook page, with runners meeting from Wednesday through to Sunday every week. John is now training hard for his next challenge in May – running 400 miles in four days, taking on the world’s record breakers without any sleep or rest.
