On Thursday, Westfield runner John Reynolds set off from the White Post Inn to begin his most intense challenge to date – a 400 mile run in just four days.

Setting off at precisely 2 p.m., John was cheered on by a number of his Westfield TT runners, after a brief interview with BBC Points West.

However, by Friday morning, John’s run was forced to end. Despite being “comfortably on-target” to beat the world record, a flu virus he’d had six weeks ago reoccurred towards the end of his first 100 mile circuit, and the decision was made to prevent putting himself at risk.

Across the weekend, dozens of members of Westfield TT have donned their bright orange club shirts and gone out in blazing heat, posting their mileage and times online, to show their support for John.
