The St Peter’s Church Camerton Annual Variety Concert featuring local talent will be staged in the church this Saturday, 15th October at 7.30 p.m. As in previous years, the proceeds from this very popular evening of entertainment will be given in support of a deserving locally based charity. This year, 2016, the money raised from the concert will be for Young Carers – Bath and North East Somerset.
The young carers are usually under the age of eighteen years with responsibility of caring for a relative with a physical or mental disability. Clearly, a very deserving cause, as these teenagers are often denied the freedom enjoyed by other young people of their age.
An amazing programme of entertainment has been arranged for this year with an emphasis on the 90th year of our Queen. The Benefice Choir, under the baton of Bob Goode, and accompanist, Kathleen Dando, will sing ‘A Regular Royal Queen’ and other items. For the first time this year and with much anticipation, we will welcome musical students from Beechen Cliff School and it is such a great pleasure to see young people so talented prepared to entertain us.
The very eloquent orator, Gay Fear, has agreed to appear again this year and will present her view of the English climate entitled ‘Here – what about the weather’. Gay’s perception will most certainly keep everyone amused. Absolute harmony will be provided in the form of Bob’s Barber Shop, a quartet of Bob Goode, Sid Michelmore, Vyvian Pugh and Ken Moules. Not only is it the 90th year of our Queen, but also ninety years since author, A.A. Milne, produced the first Winnie the Pooh book and this will be celebrated by soprano soloist, Margaret Pugh, entertaining the audience.
Less than three in five A&E arrivals at Royal United Hospitals Bath seen within four hours
More than 150 people in Bath and North East Somerset without a home this Christmas
Food hygiene ratings handed to nine Bath and North East Somerset establishments
Food hygiene ratings given to two Bath and North East Somerset establishmentsIncluded in the programme for this year is an item entitled ‘Humorous moments’ by ‘The Likely Lads’. Just who these ‘Likely Lads’ are is somewhat of a mystery, but there is a rumour circulating around the village that one might, just might, be Gordon Ripley, our Rector at St Peter’s Church and the other could be Bob Goode, ex-Headmaster of Shoscombe School. Well, there’s a likely pair!
Clearly, this is an event not to be missed and Kathleen and her organising committee look forward to seeing you on Saturday evening. Admission is free as too are the
celebrated St Peter’s Church buffet refreshments which will be served during the
interval. Your support by way of a collection for the Young Carers – Bath and North East Somerset will be hugely appreciated. For further details, please call Kathleen on: 01761 470606.
