A meeting is due to be held, run by the Transforming Maternity Services team, next Saturday, 12th January at the Methodist Hall, Paulton, from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Residents are being encouraged to go along and hear about B&NES’ Clinical Commissioning Group’s latest public consultation which is currently looking at maternity services locally.

It has proposed to scrap maternity beds at Paulton Hospital, investing in two new midwifery units instead – one at the RUH, Bath, and the other in Salisbury. The CCG argues that Paulton’s beds are empty 95% of the time. The consultation closes on 24th February.

A recent protest in Paulton High Street attracted television crews and thousands have signed an online petition, launched by Grant Johnson, who was born at the hospital, against the plans.
