Norton Radstock Swimming Club hosted the first round of the Winter Series against Burnham, Bridgwater and Wellington on Saturday and won by fifteen points from Wellington in a very exciting gala.

The team set thirteen personal best times and had nineteen first places and 25 second places in the 51-race programme.

There were individual wins for Joseph McLachlan, Poppy Hawkins and Christian Gregory in the freestyle and a win for Mary Inns in the breaststroke. In the

butterfly, there were victories for Hannah Brooks-Scully, Nick Britton, Christian Gregory and Callum Ford and in the backstroke, Alice Wells and Finley Rogers. Liam Willcox also won the individual medley.

The team performed exceptionally well in the relays, with eight wins and nine second places.

The final event of the evening was the canon, an eight-person freestyle relay with alternate legs swum by girls and boys in ascending age group order. This is

always an exciting race and the Norton team were victorious.

The club would like to thank all parents for their help and support and Rob and his sports centre team for helping things flow smoothly. The next round is at Bridgwater on November 9th.
