Welton's seven match unbeaten run came to an end at Westbury when they failed to produce the goods on the pitch and in the end deserved nothing out of the game.

The game got underway on a very heavy, sticky pitch and Welton broke straight from the kick-off, but Anthony Conradi was caught offside as he raced through. The home side took the lead after only three minutes when a corner from the right dropped in the mix. Welton's defence looked hesitant and the ball fell to Nathan Hallet-Young and he fired his shot into the corner of the Welton net.

Westbury continued to press and a header from Mark Young went close. Danny Precup was booked for bringing down Paul Banks on a charge. Dan Cottle's free kick landed right in the six-yard box and this time, the Westbury defence failed to clear and the ball fell to Byron Lismore at the far post, but he could not connect to the loose ball. Westbury keeper, Robert Brown, then saved well to deny Banks. A terrific run by Conradi saw him beat two men, drive his cross into the area and the ball fell to Cottle and as he was about to connect, he appeared to be clipped, but referee, Olagunju, was having none of it. As half- time approached, Welton continued to press, but the final ball was going astray too often.

The second half began with a 25-yard thunderbolt from Carl Stone that was well saved by Brown in the Westbury goal. Welton were pressing for the equaliser and despite total possession, they were unable to create any clear-cut goalscoring chances. The home side looked comfortable as they absorbed the pressure and they also looked dangerous on the break. Joseph Murray was found in space on the right for Westbury – he raced towards the Welton goal and as Andy King came out to close him down, he struck a delicate chip over King and the ball struck the Welton bar as Welton escaped.

In the seventieth minute, Westbury got a second goal when Welton lost possession and Mark Young turned his marker and found Nathan Hallet in space, finishing off in style to score a very good goal. A minute later, Westbury got a third when Welton gave away a needless free kick on the edge of the area. Up stepped substitute, Wayne Wheeler, who curled his free kick into the top corner of the Welton net. This seemed to galvanise Welton into action and a Cottle corner was met by Welton Captain, Chris Peck, who headed home to pull one back. Minutes later, Welton got a second when another corner was met by Andy Keen and his header thumped against the Westbury bar and fell back to Banks who drilled his shot into the net. It was all go now as Welton went all out for the equaliser, but in the end, the Westbury defence held firm and Welton saw three points slip away. The defeat was all the more galling as the top two teams, Bradford Town and Shepton Mallet, also lost.
