MORE than 130 runners braved rain and challenging terrain to run the Uphill to Wells relay, which is organised by Mendip Hills Hash House Harriers and in support of Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.

A dozen hardy souls ran the whole 29 mile route. However, most were in five strong teams with each member running between 5 and 7 miles on their leg. The route heads inland and over Crook Peak before heading via Cheddar and Priddy into the city, finishing on the cathedral green.

Joined by teams from Wells, Burnham on Sea, Clevedon and even Plymouth, Radstock’s Somer Athletic Club won the overall race in the very fine time of just under 4 hours, while their ladies’ team won their category too to complete a double for the Somer club. Both teams shared hampers of local produce including cheese, strawberries, wine and beer.
