Well, it seems like the bowling season is nearing the end as the Men have finished their MSL Wednesday league and only have two Saturday County League games left; but don’t despair, your Captain has arranged some Friendly games.
These are up on the noticeboard, so please put your names down for these. One more Mixed League game is on 18th August against Frome Park. We also have the Janet Norman Trophy Triples, and the Fosseway Floodlit Cup to look forward to in September.
The Ladies have another six league games to play. This week saw Stothert and Pitt Ladies visit Fosseway and we won on two rinks, lost on one but won overall, 67–57, so claimed eight points. Our second game was against Bloomfield Ladies, when we again won on two rinks, lost on one, but because Bloomfield had to lose a quarter of their score on this rink as they could only put out a triple, we won overall, so received all ten points.
The Mixed MSL game on Friday was played at Shepton Mallet. The weather was not very kind to us, but we managed to play all 21 ends, only getting wet in the last few ends. We only won on one rink, so only managed two points.
We are hosting a Friendly game on Monday against Somerset Masonic Bowling Association; so more about that next week.
Don’t forget it’s not too late in the season to come and give bowls a try. Come along on Monday evenings at 6 p.m. with flat shoes. Everything else will be provided.
