Well we got double portions this week. Last week’s report got lost in transit, so just a quick one for that week. Our Ladies travelled to Weston-super-Mare and played against Victoria White in the Mendip League. We only won on one rink, so we only got two points.

On Wednesday, the Men played Paulton at home and won on two rinks but lost overall, so they got four points.

The Ladies only had to travel to Purnell on Thursday. We were only able to field two rinks and one triple, and after losing 25% of the triples score, we only lost overall by one shot and gained two points.

The same happened on Friday evening. We played Frome Selwood in a Mixed MSL game and lost by one shot again, but claimed four points.

Now for this week. On Tuesday afternoon, the Ladies travelled to Wrington for a Mendip League match. Unfortunately the artificial green did not suit our Ladies, as we lost on all rinks. We were compensated with a lovely cream tea, with homemade scones.

The Men didn’t have far to go on Wednesday for their Mid-Somerset League game; only across the road to Prattens. We had one winning rink, so picked up two of the twelve points.

Keynsham Ladies visited us on Thursday, where we won on one rink, drew on one and lost on the other. We lost the game by one shot, but all in all it was a good afternoon bowling on a very fast green. Seems to be our luck at the moment to lose by one shot, so near but not quite enough – we gained three points.

On Friday, we travelled to Castle Cary for a mixed MSL game. We lost on all three rinks, but the game was enjoyed by both teams in good, warm weather.

We played a friendly game of triples on Sunday at Devizes Bowls Club. The weather was very hot, so we only played fifteen ends. We won on two rinks and lost overall. The game was played in a very good spirit, enjoyed by both teams, and we look forward to a return match next year.
