NORWEST Bowls Club has gone from strength to strength this season and it all came together beautifully at the Somerset Bowls Presentation Luncheon when it scooped nine prizes!
The men’s A team came runners up in East 1 division of the County Saturday league.
Liz Durnford, Chloe Holmes and Nora Holmes took the runners up trophy for the ladies triples, a great achievement which took them to Leamington where they unfortunately were drawn against three international players who were on top form. S
Youngsters Chloe Holmes and Jack Vine, went on to claim lots of honours. Chloe Holmes, along with Lydia Shelldrake from Conglesbury Bowls Club, claimed the runners up trophy in the Ladies Juniors Pairs competition while Jack, along with Sam Dart from Purnells Bowls Club, scooped the winners trophy in the Men’s Junior Pairs competition.
Chloe and Jack then went on to take the winners trophy for Somerset Mixed Pairs competition which was quite a feat playing against bowlers who were probably playing before Chloe and Jack were even born!
Jack then went on to take the Under 25s boys ‘Player of the Year’ trophy. This accolade is in addition to winning the Indoor Boys ‘Player of the Year’ trophy earlier in the year.
Chloe took the runners up trophy for the Junior Ladies Singles Competition and also the trophy for the Under 18s Girls ‘Player of the Year’ - an amazing result as this is the second year on the trot that Chloe has taken this award.
Chloe, along with Imogen Cracknell, Madi King, Lydia and Fliss Shelldrake, the Somerset Amy Rose Bowl team, took the Under 25’s ‘Players of the Year’ trophy.
This was a well deserved award as back in the summer the girls went to Leamington and beat all comers to actually win the National Amy Rose Bowl Trophy.
