Well, I’m back! No report last week, as all games except one were cancelled. It was nice of people to say they missed my little write-up. At least I know some of you are reading it.

The first Ladies game was against our friends from down the road, Norwest, in a North Somerset League game. We came away with eight of the points, winning on two rinks and winning overall, 65 shots to 52.

Norwest Men visited us on Wednesday to play Fosseway Men in the Wedmore Plate, but unfortunately we lost, so Norwest go through to the next round. We wish them best of luck. The Men went to another local club for Wednesday’s MSL game. They were beaten by Paulton’s men by five shots and came away with two points for one winning rink.

On Thursday, our Ladies visited Bloomfield, where the hot conditions proved too much for one of the Bloomfield Ladies, who had to come off after six ends. The rink then continued as a triple, meaning they would lose 25% of their score. This made it a very tight game, with Fosseway winning by 2¼ on this rink, drawing on one rink and losing by one shot on the other rink. So all in all, a very close game. We won by 1¼ shots overall, so picked up seven points.

Our Men travelled to Frome Park on Saturday for a County League game against their B team. Two rinks won, one rink lost and we won overall 63 to 51 shots, so gained ten of the twelve points. Keep it up, lads, you’re doing well.

The friendly game on Sunday was against Paulton Bowls Club. Because the weather was so hot, we only played fifteen ends. The green was very tricky, and Fosseway came away winning overall, but everyone enjoyed the afternoon.

A quick reminder to everyone to get their club competitions played. There is also still time for new members to come and see what we are all about. AM
