The week started off with the Ladies playing a rearranged game against Weston Bath. We won on two rinks and lost on one and won overall 53 shots to 44.25 so claimed 8 of the 10 points.
On Tuesday, the scoring was the other way round, when we claimed only two points off the Congresbury Ladies, who visited us. We only lost by one shot, 46 for Fosseway, 47 for Congresbury.
The Ladies had another rearranged game, this time against Victoria Blue, at Weston-super-Mare, in the Mendip League. Fosseway could only field one triple and two teams of two players. We lost on all rinks.
The Men’s section visited Prattens to play the first round of the Turnbull Cup, only to be one player short on one of the rinks, so were disqualified from playing, and this made them unable to play in the first round of the Plate. A friendly game was played and Fosseway lost on all rinks. The hot dogs after the game were very welcomed.
On Wednesday, they travelled just down the road to Norwest, where they once again lost on all rinks so got no points.
Their luck changed on Saturday, in the County League game, against Bloomfield B away, when they managed to win on one, draw on one and lose on one, and managed to win overall, 67 to 54 shots, and claimed nine of the twelve points. A good finish to the week.
A friendly game on Sunday, saw our friends from Barnwood in Gloucestershire visit us. The weather was excellent for bowling and the game was played in the true friendly manner. Everyone enjoyed the game and the result was a win for Barnwood, with Fosseway winning on one rink and drawing on one but losing overall. Everyone is looking forward very much to the return match next year.
