The weather played a big part in the results last week! On Tuesday the Ladies started to play their NSL match against Stothert and Pitt, but at seven ends all the heavens opened, and the match had to be abandoned!
The remainder of the game will now be played on Friday, 23rd August. On Thursday, the weather played fair and the Ladies’ game against Bloomfield went the way of Fosseway, who won two rinks decisively and just lost the third rink by one shot, thus winning the match overall with eight points to two.
There was no game for the Men on Wednesday, but the club went into action with a mixed team in the Mixed MSL League at Wyrrall Park. Again, the weather spoilt the game and they had to stop at twelve ends, with Wyrall Park taking the victory.
At the weekend, the club played their Centurion Cup competition – a triples match of fifteen ends. Having fought through the early knock-out rounds on Saturday, six players lined up on Sunday morning for the Final, a very close match with brilliant bowling from both teams.
At the last end, the results changed dramatically from six-up to one-down, giving the win to Sheila Davis, Dave Cocks and Bob Jenner. The runners-up were Dave Yarlett, Janet Andrews and Geoff Moore. Once again, Carole, Sue and Della kept everyone supplied with drinks and hot refreshments making a great day out for all.
This week, the Ladies were away to Chewstoke on a sunny afternoon, which saw Fosseway taking the match eight points to two. Wednesday’s Men’s game against Frome Park had a wet start and ended after three ends due to the heavy rain.
Wednesday also saw the Ladies compete in the Alexandra Park Triples Tournament. Despite heavy rain which delayed the start and shortened the competition, two of the Fosseway triples teams were in the prize list! Carole Jenner-Timms, Sheila Davis and Janet Andrews were second in the competition. Thelma Chun, Anne Morgan from Fosseway and Liz Durnford from Prattens were third.
On Thursday, the Ladies were away to Stothert & Pitt and unfortunately only managed to pick up two points overall. Friday’s mixed match in the MSL League had to be called off due to the rain. Let’s hope the weather improves for the end of season matches!
