Fosseway Bowls Club held a social evening last Monday. 36 members and friends were at Mardon’s Social Club for a Fish and Chip Supper and skittles match.
Everyone enjoyed the evening and the eventual winners were Carole Jenner-Timms and Mike Chun. Thanks must be given to Clive and Keith for organising this event. Also thanks to Nathan and Chris for a good job of sticking up, and thanks to Mardon’s Social Club for use of the alley.
Two of our members, Heather and Roger, have been in hospital this week. I understand they are doing well and we wish them both a speedy recovery.
Our next social evening is on Monday, 12th March, which is ‘board games’. Celia will provide food, so please contact her if you wish to eat.
Don’t forget, this year’s subs are now due, so please pay up if you haven’t already done so. Also, the final payment for the tour should have already been paid.
The bowling season is getting closer, with President’s Day on Sunday, 15th April. Gordie is holding his Wine Draw again this year, and we must thank him for the monies made over the past years. Please support this draw, as the money helps different projects at the club.
Thanks to all the members who have been at the club, getting everything ready for the coming season. It’s surprising what needs doing, and as they say – “many hands make light work” – so once again, thanks to all for working hard.
Just a reminder that the pre-season Spring meeting will be on Tuesday, 3rd April, so come and find out what’s going on and get your fixture books for 2018.
The Ladies are having a practice game on Tuesday, 17th April, so come along and have a game. This would be a good opportunity for new members to get to know the ladies of Fosseway.
I hope everyone survived the snowy weather over the last few days, and look forward to seeing everyone soon. Don’t forget, anyone interested in playing bowls is welcome at any of the functions held at the club, just come along and meet all the lovely people at Fosseway.
