However, the?Ladies have been going great guns. They are top of the table in the Mendip League with an advantage of being six points ahead with two games to play.
In the North Somerset League, they are somewhere in the top three, but there is some confusion as to exactly where.
Our Ladies also are in the Quarter-Finals of the Fear Cup having recently beaten Purnell ladies in a very close finish. Well done, Fosseway Ladies.
Congratulations must also go to our own Celia Soby and Tony Cooper, who are to play in the Semi-Finals of the County Mixed Pairs. Everyone at Fosseway will be wishing them well in their quest to win this competition for a second time.
Last Sunday, the annual club competition known as The Admiral’s Challenge, was played. The game was played in the triples formula and was billed as The Admiral’s team against The President’s team. A resounding win for the President’s team, but it was enjoyed by all who took place. Grateful thanks to The Admiral, aka Alec Parkin, who supplied prizes etc. The winning rinks were Dave Yarlett, Stuart Macfarlane and Martin Long for the Admirals and Thelma Chun, Steve Watson and Bob Jenner for the Presidents.
After the match, everyone gathered in the clubhouse for yet another superb meal cooked and presented in their own inimitable style by Fosseway’s Resident chef, Tony Cooper, in partnership with Celia Soby. Thank you both.
On Monday, 1st August, Fosseway hosted yet another County Match with Somerset playing Hampshire. The weather was abysmal, but the game proceeded to the end and was played, as both Presidents remarked, in an excellent spirit. Clive Norman
