Oh dear! This was not a good week for our Ladies, who had two Wild League games which both ended in defeat. In the first game, we received a real thrashing, losing all of the twelve points available when we played away to Street.
The Thursday game still saw us lose, but this time we did manage to get four points of the twelve up for grabs. It was a hard-fought game against old rivals, Purnell, and we considered ourselves unlucky that, while winning on two rinks, we lost overall by one shot.
It seems it was a week for big losses, only this time it was in our favour, as on Wednesday our Men gave no quarter to the bowlers from Paulton, and although it was only a Friendly, they came away with a massive 53-shot victory. Things changed dramatically when our lads went to Bloomfield for the Top Club competition on Thursday. Bloomfield was on top form and our boys lost to a better side on the night. Good luck to Bloomfield for their next round game.
In the County League East, the scoreline for both our Men’s teams was 10–2, but unfortunately only one was in our favour. The A team played away to Prattens, and although they only lost by four shots overall, they only took two of the twelve points on offer, while the B team played at home against Bath C and won 10–2 by five shots.
Sunday saw the start of our club competitions with the Open Triples. Although the competition was stiff and most games were nip and tuck throughout, the atmosphere was brilliant. Congratulations and good luck to those who managed to win through to the Final, which will be held on Finals Weekend in September, and a big thank you to all who took part.
And finally, a reminder that this Sunday, 27th May, its our away day to Weymouth. I think there are still a few seats left on the coach, so if you’re interested, talk to Martyn to book.
