Well, girls, it’s time for our annual get together: the Norwest Bowls Club Ladies’ Spring Meeting.

Strictly speaking, we don’t actually have to have a Spring Meeting. Our menfolk don’t have one, but then, we girls like to get together at the beginning of the season to deal with anything which needs sorting, but mainly to have a good old chinwag, and then of course there’s the cake!

This year’s meeting is this Saturday, 14th March at 2.30 p.m. So come on girls, let’s see if we can have each and every one of our ladies there to show support for our new Ladies Captain, Kath, and if you have any friends who might be interested in joining the Norwest ladies, bring them along. The more the merrier!

Following on from last week, I am pleased to report that it has been another amazing weekend for our youngsters. The Under-18s team, including local lad, Cameron (Purnell), played on Saturday at Dolphin IBC, Poole, and they won their Double, Triple game against Dorset, 41–9, while the Men’s Under-25s beat Essex on Sunday at Loddon Vale IBC, Basingstoke, winning by one shot. Now both teams will go on to the National Finals.

I understand that they were cracking games and the Somerset teams did us proud. Well done to all these young bowlers and also to Team Manager, Brian Cracknell – good luck for the Finals. What an inspiration to us all!

Norwest is lucky enough to have two young bowlers, Chloe and Jack, who have played for Somerset and hopefully, one day, I’ll be reporting on their triumphs in the National competitions.
