I’ve lots to report this week, so we’ll start with all the results. Another bad week for the girls: two games played and two games lost. The first on Tuesday was played away at Bath and boy, was it hot!

The green was extremely fast, add to that the fact Bath had several County players out and the result, 10–0, was a foregone conclusion. The second game, in the Wild League, was at home against Prattens on yet another hot afternoon, but the score of 12–0 was not so hot for Norwest.

On Wednesday evening, the Lads were away to old friends and rivals, Paulton, for an MSL game for which they claimed fourteen of the sixteen points on offer. This was a really good result, as on the same evening, we had another team playing in the third round of the National Two Fours competition, which meant most of our A team players were elsewhere. Unfortunately, the result for the Two Fours competition was not so good, and saw the lads knocked out by a strong Bristol side.

Saturday, and the County League East games: the score of 10–2 was the same for both the A and B games, but one was in our favour and the other was not. The A team were away to Knowle B and they took the ten points, while the B team were at home to Purnell C, and they only managed to get two points.

It was another 10–2 result on Friday, when a Mixed team welcomed Bloomfield to our green for an MMSL game, and yes, the ten points were Norwest’s. Finally, on Sunday, those friends and rivals from Paulton joined us at Norwest for a Mixed Friendly. As usual, when we play Paulton, it was a great afternoon, enjoyed by both teams, and for Paulton, revenge was sweet as, despite all our best efforts, Paulton won on all rinks.

Now, for something a little more serious: I have three items of club business. Firstly, we need more volunteers to do the food for home games. The Captain’s job is hard enough without having to chase around for someone to do the food, and more often than not, it seems to be the same small band who end up doing it – so come on, let’s all make an effort and get your names on the list to help.

Second on the list is next year’s tour. We’re planning on heading off to Eastbourne, the details of which are on the notice board; so all we need now is to know who’s coming. Can you get your names up as soon as possible if you want to come. We have had interest from members of another local club who would like to join us if we have spare places, so don’t miss out, get those names down.

And last, but not least, it’s me with my begging bowl. I’m looking for prizes for the tombola and raffle for our Fun Day. It’s not long now, only about five weeks, so anything will be gratefully received, and offers of help or new ideas are always welcome.
