It seems incredible that it has been a whole year since I last attended the Norwest Annual General Meeting . . .
This year, as last year, and is I expect, the case with the majority of AGMs, the attendance could have been a lot better. However, on the whole, our meeting was fairly well attended. As usual, we had reports from our Club Captains on how the club fared over the past year: the Ladies’ section continues to struggle through a lack of experienced players, however, our girls remain positive and are hoping for better times next season.
Our Men’s section did rather better, despite some unrest in the ranks. Our B Team gained promotion to the County League One East, where they will join the A team, who finished the season in a creditable fourth position. A discussion as to whether we put a second team into the National Club Two Fours Competition, took place, and it was decided that this was a definite possibility, but we need to know how much interest there would be. So lads, if you’re interested, get your names on the list, which is on the club notice board now.
Thanks were given to Mary, our outgoing President, for all her hard work during her year in office, and a warm welcome was given to our new President, Mike, and his Vice-President, Val.
Now, just a reminder: our Presentation dinner is on Saturday, 17th November, 6.30 p.m. for 7 p.m. There is still time to book your place if you’d like to come along. You don’t have to have won a trophy, you can just come along and, if last year is anything to go by, enjoy a superb dinner, a few drinks and a thoroughly pleasurable evening among friends. If you’d like to join us, just give Mary a bell, you all know the number. I’ll look forward to seeing you there, and if you’re lucky, I might even buy you a drink!
