Our first week of League games of the new season didn’t start too well for our Ladies.

On Tuesday, we went to Shepton Mallet for a Wild League game, which, although it was hard-fought, we lost by a mere 1.5 shots. We therefore took only two of the twelve points on offer.

We fared no better on Thursday in a North Somerset League game which was played away at Chew Stoke. Again, we only had two points, but this time the scoreline was 2-8. Special thanks must go to our two new Ladies, who only came up to Norwest for one of our open evenings and ended up in the ‘deep end’ playing a League game. It must have been a bit scary, but without them we would not have had a team, so thanks once again, Ladies.

Our Menfolk had a better week, where they played two friendlies. The first was on Wednesday, when they went to Bloomfield and came away with a draw; each team scoring 77 shots. On Saturday, they travelled further afield when they went to Yeovil, but this time they claimed victory with a score of 112 against Yeovil’s 101. Well done, lads. Let’s hope your form continues when your League games start.

By the time you read this, hopefully, our members will be sunning themselves on the beach at Eastbourne. Yes, it’s our annual tour this week, so fingers crossed for some good weather. We will be playing three games: at Peacehaven, White Rock, Hastings and Eastbourne, so hopefully the weather will be good and we’ll get to enjoy some great bowling.
