Our results this week have been a bit like the weather: changeable!
The Ladies started the week with a North Somerset League game which they played away at Fosseway, and although they didn’t win, they did at least manage to take two of the ten points.
On Thursday, it was a Wild League game away at Paulton, and what a game it was! We had a superb afternoon of bowls thanks to the wonderful Paulton Ladies. The whole game was a joy, just what Bowls should be – great company, lots of rivalry and banter with ooodles of laughs as well. Thanks girls, we look forward to meeting you again soon. The result was an 8-4 win for our girls, but by only three shots. The fact that this was our first win in the Wild League this season was just the icing on the cake!
Our chaps started off their week when they went to Purnell for their Wedmore Plate game. Unfortunately, they came second! Congratulations go to Purnell for their win and best wishes for the next round game.
Their second game of the week was an MSL game at home against the chaps from Paulton. It was a pleasant evening and a very friendly but competitive game ending in a win for Norwest, 12-4 by four shots.
The Saturday County League saw our A team playing at home against Knowle B and taking all twelve points, while the B team, played away at Stothert & Pitt and just scraped in with one point.
On Sunday, we ventured forth to Box for a mixed friendly game. Although we were made welcome, the atmosphere was somewhat subdued due to the very recent and sudden death of one of their members. We started with a minute’s silence and dedicated the game to his memory. It was a warm afternoon and a very pleasant game, and as seemed fitting, Box won. Thanks to all the members of Box Bowls Club for a nice game and a very welcome tea afterwards.
Finally, just a quick memo: next year’s tour details are up on the notice board. Have a look and get your name down if you want to go.
