As I promised you last week, here is the news update of ‘our Aaron’s’ progress in the County Unbadged Competition and yes, it’s good news. Aaron has made it through to the Final, by
beating G. Perkins from Castle Cary, 22–12.
He will now play local rival, Terry Priddle, from Purnell in the Final at Taunton on 10th September. Good luck, Aaron, we’re all rooting for you and whatever the outcome, you’ve done Norwest proud. Thanks also to Clare and Aaron’s family who, I gather haven’t seen much of him recently, as he always seems to be playing bowls!
While on the subject of County Finals, this coming Sunday, September 3rd, our men will be meeting the bowlers from St Andrew’s Bowls Club in the Final of the Wedmore Plate competition; another great achievement from the boys. If you would like to cheer them on, the game will be taking place at Bath Bowls Club at 10 a.m., so come on, let’s get in there and support our boys!
Continuing with the good news, and yes, this time, it’s the ladies! After several weeks of gloom and doom with the ladies’ results, it is my pleasure to report that this week we won both our games. The first, on Tuesday, was away to Frome Selwood in a Wild League game, where we won 11–1. On Thursday, away again, but this time at Westbourne, Trowbridge, on a warm, sunny afternoon, we enjoyed another win when we played a friendly.
Now back to the lads; after several weeks of wins, this week started with a defeat when they met the bowlers from Stothert and Pitt for a friendly on Wednesday. Things improved a bit on Thursday, in a Charity League game against Paulton, when they managed a draw and by Saturday, they were back on form with a win in another friendly, at home against Yeovil.
So, all in all, a good week for Norwest; and with so little of the season left, let’s see if we can notch up a few more wins to finish on a high.
