What a super turnout on Friday evening in support of Aaron and Dave, our two lads who had to play their Quarter-Final game in the County Unbadged competition. After a very wet morning, when we wondered if the game would go ahead, we were treated to a very pleasant evening and a really friendly game.
The result went to Aaron, who now goes on to the Semi-Final, which will be played this Sunday, 28th August at Purnell Bowls Club at 1 p.m. Thanks to all of you who came along to support the lads, and hope you’ll be there to cheer Aaron on in his Semi-Final game.
It is back to normal for our Ladies this week with the first of their two Wild League games cancelled due to lack of players and their second, away to Shepton Mallet, was lost, although we did manage to get our usual two points. We look forward to meeting you next week when hopefully, with everything crossed, we may get our own back.
Things continue to look good for our Men, as with only one County League East game each left to play, the A and B teams remain in first and second place, respectively in their divisions. As usual, the A team won, claiming an 8–4 victory against City of Wells. What a brilliant season you’ve had, lads. Only one loss!
Our B team have also been very successful, with this week’s game against Purnell B being only their second loss of the season. Our men can consider themselves extremely unlucky, losing the game by only one shot overall, giving them three of the twelve points on offer. Hard luck boys, but we’re proud of you anyway. On Sunday, we welcomed our old friends from Paulton to our club for a friendly game. This was a return game and Paulton were out for revenge, but it wasn’t to be, as Norwest came out victors once again. Thanks to Moira and her team in the kitchen, the bar staff and everyone who helped, as usual, an excellent job.
This is my last report for a couple of weeks as I’m off to sunnier climes, but I’m leaving you in the capable hands of Avis, so if you’ve any club news or results, she’s your girl. And last but not least, a message from Mike. He’s short of players for Sunday’s away game against Wilton, so come on, get your names up or give him a ring.
