It’s never a good moment when the bowl leaves your hand and you realise that it is heading for the wrong rink.

For those of you who don’t know about bowls, this is what is known as a ‘wrong bias’ and usually it’s accompanied by much laughter and rude comment from the other bowlers, but this year, at Norwest, those of you who did a ‘wrong bias’ can have the last laugh, as we managed to collect the brilliant sum of £82.10 for the Somerset and Dorset Air Ambulance from the collection of fines.

It’s a brilliant sum, but I hasten to add that there were quite a few donations in amongst the total and a big thanks to all non-Norwest bowlers who joined in and coughed up their pounds when they got it wrong! We at Norwest aren’t quite as useless at bowling as the final total might suggest.

It’s good to see the Fish and Chip skittle league is thriving this season. Friday nights are turning into quite a social occasion, with lots of non-skittlers turning up for a few drinks and a chat. Thanks, Keith and Dennis, you do a great job organising the league and it’s good to see Norwest busy during the ‘off season’.

Now, a message for all the Norwest Ladies. Anne Wilkinson asks if she could have your menu choices and money for the Ladies’ Christmas lunch as soon as possible. She will be away for the AGM, but if you could get it to her before then, she would be grateful. Failing that, if you put your deposit and choices in an envelope, you can let me have it and I’ll pass it on or give it to Mary at the AGM.
