PAULTON Bowls Club Ladies played their first round in the national women’s Top Club knockout competition at home against Keynsham.

This is played over four rinks with a different discipline on each, needing a to succeed on three of the four to win overall. The women produced good wins on three of the four, with Lesley Beard showing the way home with a solid win in the singles, while pairs only lost by one shot. Well done ladies and let’s hope you can replicate this form in the next round away at West Backwell.

Meanwhile, a great day was had by all participants in a friendly at home against Winsley, producing to a successful conclusion.

Wednesday evening saw the men’s team playing away at Purnells against their A team. However they could not replicate their recent form and came away with just two points.
