For the second time in three years, Pauline Dando and Chris Love are in the National finals of the Ladies County Pairs, at Leamington; a great achievement, congratulations and best wishes for Leamington in August.
Pauline also had another personal achievement by playing in the semi-finals of the Ladies County two wood competition, but unfortunately didn’t progress further. Well done Pauline, on your success in that competition.
In a friendly at Weston (Bath), Prattens’ Ladies won, 63 shots to 38. In the Wild League against Purnell, Prattens’ Ladies continued their winning run, with a 10 points to 2 win. That run came to an end in the Fear Cup, where Prattens lost, 57 shots to 66 against Paulton; Prattens will now be entered into the Fear Plate.
Prattens’ Men played Fosseway in the Turnbull Cup, but unfortunately Fosseway were unable to field a full team and therefore, under the rules of the competition, had to concede the game. Instead of the Cup game, a friendly game was played, and both teams enjoyed supper afterwards. In the Somerset County League, at Stothert & Pitt, Prattens lost 2 points to 10. In the Mixed Mid-Somerset League game at Wyrral Park, the game ended in a draw, 49 shots each. However, as Prattens won on 2 rinks, we gained 7 League points, with Wyrall Park gaining 5 points. The mixed friendly game at home to Spencer Moulton (Bradford-on-Avon) had to be cancelled.
In the coming week, Prattens’ Ladies play Paulton and Norwest in the Wild League, Prattens’ Men play the next round of the Turnbull Cup, at Keynsham, are at home to Paulton in the Mid-Somerset League and at home to Imperial, in the Somerset County League. There is also a mixed friendly at home to Stothert & Pitt.
