Prattens Bowls Club officially opened their green for the new outdoor season last Saturday and many of the members took advantage of the good weather to get the feel of bowling outdoors again.

Additionally we had four potential new members come along to try out the game. One of these had talked to the bowls club representatives as the Farmers’ Market at the beginning of April, one had seen the article about it in the Journal and the other two just knew people who were members.

The even better news was that one of them signed up to join by the end of the session and the other three said that they were likely to do so. All four, two men and two ladies, were new to bowls so that is a positive for bowls clubs in general as well as for Prattens.

On Sunday a good number of Prattens Bowls Club members met for the traditional season curtain raiser of President’s Day which was planned to include a number of short triples games as well as the traditional game of Spider (which was won by Gill Moon). The number of short games was reduced as the weather was not as kind to us as it had been on the previous day but everyone who was there, including the two new ladies who had come on the Saturday, seemed to enjoy the occasion.

dsfAfter tea, which as usual on these occasions, included a number of cakes and some home baked easter biscuits as well as lots of chatter (some of it bowls related) the President wished everyone a good season before everyone left to go home.

We still have room for several more new members so if anyone else wishes to join the club (or discuss joining the club) please contact Barrie or Pauline Dando on 01761-412705 or come along to the club evening on Monday evenings from 6pm.

Further information can be found on the club website www.prattensbowlsclub.com which also includes information about future club fixtures.
