Ailsa Midwinter, this year’s Lady President of Somerset Bowls Association, held her President’s Day at her home club, Purnell Bowls Club, on Monday, 17th June.
Representatives from all the county clubs were invited to join her for the day. Punch was served on arrival, followed by lunch. After lunch, a fun game of bowls was enjoyed by all, followed by tea and scones. Thanks to Ailsa for a superb day, and the club wishes her well for her year as Somerset County Bowls Association Lady President.
Meanwhile, the Men’s County League had another week without games, except – once again – the B team had a match against Norwest B, and the lads won the game, 12-0. They are now making steady progress up the League. A full round of games is scheduled for this weekend. In the Mid-Somerset League, the Men remain unbeaten with a fine win over Frome Selwood. This was followed by the club winning their mixed Mid-Somerset League match on Friday against Keynsham. John Hansford
