Again, it was the Ladies who set a winning run for the club last week. They won away to Frome Park on Tuesday, winning the game on shot difference and losing on one rink by just one shot. Then, on Thursday, they repeated the result at Norwest, winning the game on shot difference and losing on one rink by one shot.

On Saturday, the Men’s A team kept up their winning start to the season, beating Clevedon Prom on all rinks. Coming back well on two rinks after being down, they head the division with a maximum of 24 points.

The B team had a tough game away to Alexandra Bath under very difficult conditions and came away with a very creditable 10–2 win, losing on just one rink.

It was Stotherts-bound for the C team and although winning on two out of the three rinks, they lost the game on shot difference, 4–8.

A good crowd turned out to watch a terrific game on Sunday morning at Purnell. It was the National Two Rink Competition against St Andrew’s Weston-super-Mare – the Purnell lads were well down at the half-way stage, but dug in to turn the game around and fell over the line, winning by just one shot. They now play Norwest away.

There was a momentous moment on Friday night at the club’s social, when Mike (Nipper) Pratt, not only won the bingo, but also won the meat draw! It was the first time he had ever played bingo, which brought much amusement amongst the gathering.

There are still places at Purnell for new members, just turn up any evening, you will be made most welcome.
