THE annual floodlight charity games played between the local bowls clubs came to a climax with an exciting final with Paulton v Purnell at Norwest Bowls club.

Both clubs were unbeaten in the run up to the final, so tensions were high. Although Purnell eventually came through to claim the cup and retain the title, Paulton were very worthy opponents and should be rightly proud of their achievement.

These charity games have been an annual event since 2006 and are played between Paulton, Norwest, Prattens, Purnell and FromePk/ Frome Selwood clubs.

To date, over £42.000 has been raised by these clubs to aid small, local charities. This year’s recipient is a charity based in Frome , Nova Sports. They provide access to all manner of sports for disabled youngsters and the work they do is truly amazing. It’s the sincere hope that this event will continue long into the future, providing much needed assistance to the chosen charities.
