On Tuesday, the ladies of Norwest gathered for their annual spring meeting and it was very nice to see several of our older members there.
Overall, it was a good turnout for the meeting, although I’m not sure if that was due to an eagerness to discuss the up and coming season or the promise of cake! However, it was a lively meeting with several topics under discussion, with one of the more pressing items being the lack of a Club Secretary. This post must be filled for the club to continue running, but as no one felt able to take on the role at the Ladies’ meeting, we are still looking for a volunteer. If you are interested in taking on the job or have any ideas on the matter, please speak to a committee member.
This year, we are having our annual Spring Clean on Wednesday, 5th April when we will meet at 2 p.m. with mops and brushes at the ready.
It was with sadness this week that we learned of the death of former Norwest member, Margaret Aston, who, along with her husband, Malcolm, was a keen bowler and a great supporter of Norwest. I’m sure many Norwest members will have many happy memories of Margaret and our best wishes go to her family.
Our Subs Evening is this coming weekend on Saturday, 18th March at 7.30 p.m. when Mary will be waiting in great anticipation with hand outstretched. As you know, over the past year, we have had some problems with our club shirt supplier and we have now found a new one. We would appreciate it if members could come along to see the new design and if new shirts are needed, there will be some samples to try on for size. Mary has the samples, but they will only be available from Friday until Sunday of next week. There will be a ploughman’s supper on offer, but you need to book this with Ann Woodham on: 01761 436017 beforehand, otherwise you’ll be disappointed!
And finally, just a reminder: by the time you read this, Norwest member, Mark Kite, will have completed the Bath Half Marathon in support of this year’s floodlight bowls charity. If you haven’t got your name on Mark’s sponsor sheet yet, why not? It’s not too late, there’s still time, so get your name down and help support Mark’s brilliant effort and the Charity Bowls League.
