Sunday afternoon saw three of our local youngsters travel to Blanford Forum for their first County game of the season where they met a team from Dorset for what was a cracking game!

The weather couldn’t have been better and it was such a treat to see all the youngsters out there on the green enjoying themselves: who said lawn bowls was a sport for old people?

The Somerset team counted five ‘county newbies’ in their number, while Dorset fielded a team of more experienced bowlers including two 18-year-olds. Nonetheless, Somerset won the day, beating Dorset by four hard-won shots. Overall, the quality of play was something which a lot of older hands at the game would be pleased to achieve.

Our local youngsters were Chloe, for whom it was her first County game, Jack from Norwest and Cameron from Purnell. All three had excellent games and were a credit to their clubs.
