This year has been successful from the start: we now have more members who are enjoying their croquet and taking part in our competitions, and we have won our first round of matches (well done, teams).
We have also celebrated National Croquet Day on 12th May – an opportunity to highlight the fascinating and increasingly popular sport of croquet, where, using a long-handled mallet, you hit a series of balls through a series of hoops. We welcomed a number of visitors and friends from other local clubs so, just before a welcome cream tea, we spent the afternoon playing our favourite sport.
Croquet is a sport enjoyed by people of all ages, skills and abilities, and men and women play on equal terms. Do not let ‘I’m not so mobile as I used to be’ stop you from trying this sport. After a short introduction, you’ll be having a game with other players.
If you are looking for that ‘competitive edge’ then croquet is also for you. Do not think that croquet is just a gentle game – even when playing socially, you’ll see players with that ‘glint in their eye’ that says: “I want to win!”
Camerton and Peasedown have a number of teams that play against other local clubs. Many of our players also take part in Regional and National Competitions. The club includes National winners and finalists – so come and find out more.
We have an open-door policy, so anyone can come and try croquet for themselves – the first visit is always free and all equipment is provided, just bring flat-soled shoes. Our qualified coaches will introduce you to this sport and you’ll soon be taking part in a game with others. Contact Club Chair, Mo Boys, on: 07970 922867 to arrange your own croquet experience. We look forward to hearing from you soon. Follow us at: www.camertonpeasedowncroquet.co.uk
